The design brief was: “a nehru jacket made out of pure Irish linen.” Too often, linen suit jackets come lined, often in synthetic fabrics, which detracts from the breathable qualities of linen. Linen is special: it has structure, but also softness, qualities which lend themselves to unlined, semi-formal garments.
We wanted this jacket to be unflappable, armorial, shell-like, almost. So we lined it in a second layer of linen, which explains the working title for this style: “the double layer linen jacket.”
